Denville-based bread manufacturer Anthony & Sons Bakery is launching the first line of plant-based bread made from fresh avocados.
In a Dec. 4 press release, Anthony & Sons Bakery introduced the initial products it is bringing to the food service and retail markets under its new brand, The Avocado Bread Co.
Among the offerings are Avocado Seeds & Grains Bread, which also contains an original blend of guacamole spices, powerful nutrients and healthy grains, like sunflower, oats and cracked wheat.
Sold in a 24-ounce loaf, Avocado Seeds & Grains Bread is now available at select grocery stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $5.99 to $6.99.
Anthony & Sons also debuted Avocado Seeds & Grains Dinner Rolls, Take & Bake Avocado Bread, and Avocado Seeds & Grains Ciabatta Buns — all of which are vegan and bear a clean label.
Ben Rizzitello, vice president of Marketing, said the family-owned company is excited to launch its “one-of-a-kind line,” saying, “For us, it’s about developing a product that our customers will enjoy and offers great benefits – we care about our community and the health and well-being of our customers.”
The initial response to the protein-packed power bread “has been tremendous,” he said. “We are looking forward to getting our newly introduced products into the homes of consumers.”
Founded in 1984, Anthony & Sons is one of the largest bread suppliers in the country, producing frozen product for restaurants and supermarkets from its 65,000-square-foot, fully automated plant and headquarters in Morris County. It also has two retail locations – Denville and Succasunna – that offer café-style food for dine-in, takeout or catering.
